Degrees in Agricultural Ecology In order to meet the challenges of the present and future use and development of the rural areas, the degrees in agricultural ecology include, as well as sustainable agriculture, increasing elements of ecology, environmental protection and landscape conservation. The previous graduation was the diploma agrarian engineer. Since the modernisation of the degree programme in the winter semester of 2000, a two-stage qualification is offered. Now, the first degree after 6 semesters is the Bachelor of Science (B.sc.) and the second degree (4 semesters) the Master of Science (M. sc.). For this degree, the students have to undertake a work placement. Degrees in Land Management and Environmental Protection With the internationalisation of degrees programmes in the winter semester 2004/2005, for the first time the course of studies on Land Management and Environmental Protection is offered with the degree of Bachelor of Science (B. sc.). After three years duration of study - or depending upon personal life planning, at a later date – it will be possible to continue with a consecutive course of studies at the Faculty for Agricultural and Environmental Sciences for a further two years to achieve the degree of Master of Science (M. sc.). Both degrees tie directly in to the experiences of many years of the diplomas in Land Management and Environmental Protection. The degree of Bachelor of Science affords the possibility to start gaining professional experience earlier than was previously possible with the diploma. Through the international harmonization in form of such tiered degrees, decided by the Education Ministerial Conference of the European Union, the doors are opened for AUF students to take Masters degrees at foreign universities. Until 2003 a scientific education which qualified the student for the solution of sophisticated theoretical and practical questions in civil engineering was offered. The practice-oriented education is obtained by practical seminars and a hands-on training which lasts several weeks. With an universitary degree an advanced civil service career is also possible. Due to structural changes, since 2003 no more students are enrolled in the Civil Engineering course. As an alternative, we recommend the course of studies on Land Management and Environmental Protection which offers similar contents in a broader spectrum. Doctoral Degrees and Habilitation: Since the reestablishment of the Faculty in 1990, many young scientists have completed their doctorate and some of them were succsessfully promoted to professors at the Faculty for Agricultural and Environmental Sciences or in other places. Evaluation of Lectures Since winter semester 2002/2003 a regular evaluation of all courses takes place by the students. An official questionnaire was developed for this purpose by the committee of studies and lectures in cooperation with the student body. |
