BACKGROUND

The Coastal Engineering Research Group of the University of Rostock and the Department of Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering of the National Cheng-Kung University in Tainan as well as the Coastal Engineering Sector of the Ocean Collega at Hohai University are working together in the field of Ocean and Coastal Engineering since more than 10 years. Within this co-operation the Summer School Coastal Protection, which is funded by DAAD under their Summer Schools abroad programme, is the first teaching exchange activity include all three Universities. In addition, several experienced German coastal engineering specialists from other Universities and Federal Coastal Protection Authorities have been enlisted for the Summer School.
