Teaching tasks of the Professorship for Utilization of plant genetic resources for breeding purposes

The Professorship for Utilization of plant genetic resources for breeding purposes currently offers courses in the Bachelor's degree programme in Agricultural Sciences and the Master's degree programme in Sustainable Agricultural Systems.

Students get basic knowledge about the inheritance of quantitative traits and the purpose and process of breeding programmes. Furthermore, detailed knowledge about the identification of genome regions that cause trait variation as well as the prediction of this variation is acquired by the students based on research-oriented analyses of example datasets. Finally, students gain an insight into modern high-throughput methods of genotyping and phenotyping.

Teaching modules

Bachelor Agricultural Sciences

  • Specialised crop production and plant breeding

Master Sustainable Agricultural Systems
