Effects of endophytic and rhizosphere microorganisms in P-mobilization

Endophytes are bacteria and fungi that colonize plant tissues, without causing symptoms of disease in their host. The close interaction of endophytes within the host plant can directly affect plant properties, as compared to the interaction of the rhizosphere microorganisms. However, the rhizosphere is the main source of endophytes and selection criteria of specific microorganisms by host-plants are still unknown. Diversity and abundance of microorganisms in plant tissues and rhizosphere are the key factor affecting plant health and productivity e.g., by synthesis of phytohormones, siderophores and/or increased nutrient uptake (e.g. phosphorus). These effects of microorganisms and preliminary results of interactions between plant and microorganisms will be presented.
