Project objective and brief description:
This initiative is part of the TaqatHy+ Project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and jointly implemented by GIZ and Rostock University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies (MEMER) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MESRS) in Algeria.
The aim of the project is to strengthen the higher education and scientific research capacities in Algeria in the field of green hydrogen (GH2), including production from renewable energy sources, storage, transportation, utilization, and 'Power to X' applications. The long-term vision is to train a new generation of qualified engineers, researchers, and policymakers in green hydrogen technologies, while establishing a sustainable academic and research collaboration platform between Germany and Algeria, aligned with the Algerian national strategy on GH2 led by MEMER.
The Algerian partner institutions included in this project are:
• National Polytechnic School (ENP).
• Houari Boumediene University of Science and Technology (USTHB).
• Higher National School of Renewable Energies, Environment and Sustainable Development (HNS-RE²SD).
• Algerian Petroleum Institute (IAP).
