Research

The subject of our research is both basic and applied farm animal ethology. Our aim is to understand the biology of animal welfare within the framework of behavioural control and regulation to develop scientific approaches and practical solutions for improving livestock husbandry and its ethical and societal acceptance.

Animal welfare results from successful coping behaviour of animals in their interaction with the environment. The adaptation repertoire of the animals and the husbandry challenges should be as congruent as possible.
