PD Dr. Christel Baum became an Associated Professor of Soil Biology at the University of Rostock in 2020. Her main research areas are soil microbiology and plant/soil interactions. Over the last years, her research interests were in microbial nutrient mobilization in the rhizosphere and in plant-growth promoting microorganisms. At present, her research work is being concentrated on mycorrhiza and phosphorus research. She is involved in university teaching activities in the education of Bachelor (Agricultural Sciences) and Master (Sustainable Agricultural Systems) students.

short vita
Professor Baum studied agricultural sciences (plant breeding and seed production) at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg. She received her doctorate in agricultural sciences at the Institute of Soil Science in Halle. Afterwards she did her postdoctoral work at KVL Copenhagen and worked as a research assistant at the professorship of Soil Science at TU Dresden for 3 years. Her habilitation in Soil Science was at the University of Rostock on the topic "Mycorrhizal and saprotrophic fungi in the rhizosphere". Ms. Baum is a research assistant at the professorchip of Soil Science.
