Faculty of Agriculture, Civil and Environmental Engineering brings together a wide range of disciplines from the natural sciences, economics, and engineering. Among others, the faculty’s research and teaching staff includes trained biologists, agricultural scientists, geoinformatics specialists, civil engineers, water resource managers, veterinarians, and even an architect.

Through a wide range of research projects, the faculty’s professors address current and future challenges in rural areas and along the coasts of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. This ranges from peatland research—for example, in the DFG Collaborative Research Center WETSCAPES2.0—to animal welfare and animal health (e.g., the “AI Animal Welfare” project as part of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s State Excellence Initiative) and resource-efficient food production (the “Fish Greenhouse” project) to the production of green hydrogen from waste materials (the LoCaGas and GH2 projects).
As part of the interdisciplinary lecture series “AgriCcoast—Sustainable Resource Use in Coastal Agricultural Landscapes,” the latest findings and developments from ongoing projects, as well as current topics relevant to the overarching theme, are presented.
