Professorship Behavioural Sciences

Welcome

on the homepage of the Professorship for Behavioural Sciences. The professorship teaches courses in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Agricultural Sciences.

The biology of behaviour is one of the classical disciplines in research and teaching of biological, veterinary and agricultural faculties. Knowledge of farm animal behaviour plays a crucial role in the assessment of animal-environment interactions, especially in the context of improving animal welfare and husbandry.

The professorship, held by the behavioural biologist Prof. Dr. Birger Puppe, is linked to the management both of the Working Group Animal Behaviour & Welfare and the competence field Behaviour and Husbandry at the Research Institute for Farm Animal Biology (FBN) in Dummerstorf.
