Teaching

The professorship teaches courses in the Faculty's Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Agricultural Sciences. Modern, species- and environment-appropriate livestock husbandry requires knowledge in the fields of animal health, hygiene, microbiology, virology, parasitology and mycology in addition to basic knowledge of the anatomical and physiological conditions in animals. These topics are supplemented by lectures on animal welfare, consumer protection, biotechnology and toxicological issues.

By practical excursions and the involvement of scientists, especially from the Leibniz Institute for Farm Animal Biology (FBN), the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Research Centre for Agriculture and Fisheries (LFA) and the Friedrich Loeffler Institute (FLI, Federal Research Institute for Animal Health), in teaching activities, both applied aspects and the latest basic scientific knowledge are considered.
