Major research topics are the monitoring of rural living conditions and quality of life, demographic change (with a focus on ageing), residential location decisions in favour and against rural areas, housing conditions and tenure, governance of public and private services in rural areas (among others, voluntary fire brigades) as well as the social, demographic and territorial development of villages and small towns.
